BioFach India 2009 and India Organic Trade Fair: Successful cooperation with brilliant premiere
- Successful start for BioFach India
The first BioFach India took place together with the fifth India Organic Trade Fair, IOTF, in the Bombay Exhibition Centre from 18-20 November. The two exhibitions reflect the entire spectrum of the Indian organic market: from production, certification and processing to trade. 129 exhibitors were delighted with the lively interest shown by the 3,044 trade visitors on the 1,332 m2 net space at the event. The two experienced partners, NürnbergMesse and ICCOA, International Competence Centre for Organic Agriculture, the organizer of IOTF, intend this cooperation to decisively stimulate the development of national and international organic trade. The players in India and experts from all over the world are agreed: The time is ripe for giving India's organic sector a comprehensive exhibition platform and for creating stronger international market connections.
Exhibitors, visitors and the organizers were delighted: BioFach India and the India Organic Trade Fair have proved themselves on their very first joint appearance. “A really very inspiring and successful exhibition. We made valuable new contacts,” says Gerald Edler from the Inter-Naturales Handelsagentur, the agent for Umalaxmi Organics, an association of various groups of farmers from Rajasthan. Dr. Gouri from the official Export Development Authority APEDA stressed the outstanding organization of the exhibition and was pleased about the good start and the positive feedback. “All the major players were represented in Mumbai,” says Manoj Menon, Director of ICOOA. He declared BioFach India and India Organic as a milestone for India’s organic sector.
“We had a number of inquiries and good business contacts,” sums up S. Ramprasad, International Sales Manager, Sresta - Natural Bioproducts. The company is well established in India, also supplies export markets in the West and has already exhibited several times at BioFach in Nürnberg. Exhibition newcomer Ann Shankar, founder of Biodye, a supplier of natural dyes for textiles, was delighted: “We had many interested visitors and will certainly be there again next year!”
India: raw material paradise and growing domestic organic market
“The successful premiere of the exhibition duo in Mumbai makes it clear that things are moving in India, not only in the technology sector, but in the organic products segment too. The time was ripe for BioFach India – this is proved by the three successful days of the exhibition with enthusiastic exhibitors and visitors. BioFach India together with the India Organic Trade Fair reflected the products available on the Indian sourcing market. International exhibitors and visitors had the opportunity to publicize their products in India and to get to know competent business partners and the Indian sector on the ground,” says a pleased Frank Venjakob, Director Events, Nürnberg Global Fairs.
The exhibition duo lines up in the Bombay Exhibition Centre for the second time from 7–9 December 2010.
